This Privacy Policy explains how GroceryPrice ("we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the GroceryPrice mobile application and this website. We aim to collect only what is needed to operate and improve the app.

1. Information You Provide or Store

Favorites and settings: GroceryPrice stores your saved favorites and default region setting locally on your device using app storage.
Search selections: When you request prices, the app sends item filters such as commodity, variety, region, size, and organic selection to our backend so it can return matching price data.
Contact email: If you contact us for support, we receive the information you choose to include in your message.

2. Information Collected Automatically

The app uses Firebase App Check to help protect the backend from unauthorized automated access. Firebase App Check may process app, device, and attestation information needed to verify that requests come from a legitimate app instance.

Our backend may also keep standard server logs, such as request route, timestamp, status code, and diagnostic information used to operate and secure the service.

3. How We Use Information

Provide price search, price history, analytics, and favorite insight features.
Protect the backend API from abuse and unauthorized traffic.
Debug errors, monitor reliability, and improve app behavior.
Respond to support requests.

4. Data Sources

GroceryPrice uses grocery and produce market data derived from USDA Agricultural Marketing Service market news sources. This source data is not personal information about app users.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We use Google Firebase and Google Cloud services to host backend infrastructure, verify App Check tokens, store source-derived price data, and operate the service. Google handles data according to its applicable terms and privacy policies.

6. Data Storage and Retention

Favorites and settings are stored locally on your device and can be removed by deleting favorites, changing settings, or deleting the app. Backend logs are retained only as needed for operations, debugging, and security.

7. Your Choices

You can add or remove favorite items in the app.
You can delete the app to remove locally stored app data from your device.
You can contact us to request help with privacy questions.

8. Children's Privacy

GroceryPrice is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
